juwi Shizen Energy completes construction of 121MW solar power plant in Hyogo, one of the largest in the Kansai region

juwi Shizen Energy Inc. (juwi Shizen Energy) has completed construction of a 121 MW (DC) solar power plant in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and held a completion ceremony on April 11, 2024. The plant will supply approximately 85 MW (AC) of renewable energy to a major utility company, making it one of the largest solar power plants in the Kansai region.

Construction of this power plant began in August 2021 on a former golf course (approx. 224 ha). The construction work was carried out in consideration of both environmental impact and cost reduction by reducing logging and land development work on the construction site, designing pile mounts based on three-dimensional topographical data, and maximizing the panel installation area.

In addition to achieving zero lost time incidents*1 during the construction work, this project was able to start electricity sales approximately four months ahead of the original plan by improving work efficiency.

This plant is the largest ever completed project by juwi Shizen Energy, and is expected to generate approximately 143 million kWh per year. This is equivalent to the power consumption of approximately 34,200 households*2 and an annual reduction of approximately 41,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Including this power plant, juwi Shizen Energy has completed the EPC for approximately 712 MW (DC) of solar power plants to date. juwi Shizen Energy will continue to contribute to building a sustainable society through the construction of high-quality, community-based solar power plants by applying the knowledge and experience it has accumulated worldwide, both in Japan and internationally.

As demand for renewable energy is expected to continue to grow, the company will continue to engage in solar power plant construction, including development work, based on the knowledge it has gained from its EPC business.
